The very first pride celebration in Leeds was back in 2006 and an impressive 17 years later, Leeds Pride is now one of the UK’s biggest free pride events. Throughout Pride Month, parades will be marched across the country supporting LGBTQ+ communities, find out where you can join the celebrations in and around Yorkshire below. Expect rainbow flags, face paint and sequins galore!
Bridlington Pride
Kicking things off in the popular seaside destination, Bridlington Pride will take place on Saturday 1st of July. Last year marked their first-ever pride event and its huge success means the team has been organising another show-stopping day all about bringing people together. Jam-packed with surprise acts, food stalls and outdoor entertainment, the main event is held at Bridlington Spa from 12 pm until 7 pm. Get down early to catch the parade at 11 am. Tickets are free and will be available from the box office on the day – everyone is welcome to join in on the fun.
Skipton Comedy Live: Pride Special
Head over to the eclectic Yorkshire Dales town of Skipton to enjoy a fun-filled night at Skipton Comedy Live: Pride Special. Discover a welcoming atmosphere at Skipton Town Hall where a stellar line-up of LGBTQ+ comedians is set to have you in stitches on Friday 7th of July. The Hub bar will be open from 7 pm if you want to grab a tipple before the show starts at 8 pm. Tickets are available online at just £10 each for an inclusive evening of laughter and celebration.
Barnsley Pride
South Yorkshire market town Barnsley is the place to be on Saturday 15th July when Mandela Gardens hosts the booming Barnsley Pride. This free, family-friendly day kicks off at 12 pm where you can expect entertainment from talented hosts, performers and DJs across two stages until 6 pm along with limitless, local food vendors and stalls. The show at The Garrison stage is for adults only and starts at 1 pm. Follow the Barnsley Pride Facebook page for updates and announcements and show your support for ‘The I In Pride’. Centred around individuality, identity and inclusivity, this is a celebration for everyone that is not to be missed.
Pride in Hull
Be prepared because Pride in Hull is going to be huge! It is Yorkshire’s biggest free pride event and the city-wide takeover has something for everyone in celebration of queer communities. From a parade through the city to Boney M appearing on the main stage at Zebedees Yard, the announcements just keep coming. The well-known Family Area is back at Queen Victoria Square while Princes Dock Street is home to the Street Food Zone. You can visit the Community Area stalls and services on King Edward Street throughout the day too. It’s all happening from 12 pm until 6 pm on Saturday 29th July and it’s free! Beverley Pride
The historic town of Beverley is the new kid on the block this year with its debut Pride Festival. They’ve pulled out all the stops with this one! We’re talking live music, lip-syncing, drag shows, DJs and a Lady Gaga tribute at Beaver Park in Norwood on Saturday 5th of August. Bring the family down for a boogie through the day, then dance the night away at the Pride After Party. Gates open at 3 pm before the show starts at 4.30 pm running right through the evening. Get free tickets for the daytime event online and after-party tickets for just a fiver with Eventbrite. Welcome to the pride party, Beverley!
Doncaster Pride
Following 16 years of success, Doncaster Pride is back and better than ever on Saturday 12th August at Elmfield Park. A street festival of colour and music will parade through the South Yorkshire city flying the rainbow flag high. Be part of something big, bold and beautiful as a crowd of up to 20,000 is set to come together in celebration. Starting at 12 pm and wrapping things up by 10 pm, the event is free and everyone is welcome!
