On the second Sunday of every month, head on over to Malton to enjoy Yorkshire’s most renowned food market. Malton’s Monthly Food Market is bustling with a wide selection of specialist stalls, street foods and music. You can find everything from baked goods to meats and sweet treats. The market is a foodie’s dream with so much to browse and choose from. The market opens from 9 am until 3pm.
Piglet’s Adventure Farm
Everyone in the family love animals? Then the perfect place to visit for a fun day out is Piglets Adventure Farm in Towthorpe, York. Get up close and personal with the farmyard animals in the Animal Barn with the exciting change to feed and pet some of the occupants. Or pay a visit to the Piglet Maternity Ward to say hello to expectant mothers and their piglets. From April 1st until April 16th you can come along for the Easter Egg – Stravenganza where you can enjoy a hands on farming-experience with child tickets £13.95, adult tickets £11.95 and children under 1 free.
Mother Shipton’s Cave
Explore the great outdoors and the most iconic attractions found at Mother Shipton’s Cave in Knaresborough.Attractions such as the Petrifying Well that turns everyday items into stone, with water believed to have miraculous healing powers and the side of the well that looks like a giant’s skull. For an Easter adventure, check out their Hoppy Easter event from April 1st until April 16th. You can explore their brand new Easter Bunny Tipi Trail and follow the clues to discover magical wonders. You can also listen to stories with Daisy Maisy, plant your very own seed and even the chance to meet the Easter Bunny!
Castle Howard
Adventure with family through history at Castle Howard near York this spring. Walk through magical woodlands, experience the flowers and wildlife, then take a break with a relaxing picnic near the lake. If you forget to bring your own picnic don’t worry – there is a cafe available serving up tasty snacks and a kiosk selling ice cream if you fancy a treat. If the kids still need to let off a little steam, take the land train across to the lakeside park to burn off any extra energy before heading home.
Stockeld Park
If the weather takes a turn for the worst this spring, head over to Stockeld Park that is full of fun no matter the weather. Some Easter fun is included in your entry ticket from April 1st until April 16th. Take the kids along to explore the enchanted forest to find some eggs, watch the Easter Bunny’s Apprentice in the Stockeld Theatre, and even get the chance to meet the Easter Bunny!
York City Walls
Take the family on an adventure through York’s rich history with a walk along the beautifully preserved city walls. The walls are completely free to access and can be accessed at different points across the city. Walking the whole way around the walls will take approximately 2 hours, but feel free to take your time to take in the sites along the walls.
